Facial acupuncture, the apparently more safe alternative to surgery or Botox.
This cosmetic treatment is an elaborate extension of traditional acupuncture. It is said to naturally contribute to a younger and healthier appearance of the face. As opposed to injection procedures, facial acupuncture targets not only the signs of aging, but also the entire health of the skin.
The process of acupuncture
The acupuncturist will gently insert many tiny, painless needles into the face. By piercing the skin, the needles create lesions at its threshold, which are called positive microtrauma. When your body detects these lesions, it goes into a healing mode.
This is the same idea that microneedling uses to achieve radiant, anti-aging results-except that acupuncture is a little less intense, averaging about 50 needles. Microneedling applies hundreds of needles using a rolling device.
These shots stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory systems, which work together to provide nutrients and oxygen to your skin tissue. This helps unify your skin tone and boost your skin’s radiance. The positive microtrauma also stimulates collagen generation. This helps to increase skin elasticity and minimize fine lines and wrinkles.
Is acupuncture safe ?
The potential risks of acupuncture are very low if you have a qualified and certified practitioner who knows the procedures correctly and uses sterile needles. Needles are individually sterilized and single-used in our clinic.
